Cum să crezi că o rugăciune e altceva decît un monolog, că un extaz are o valoare dincolo de el însuşi, că vreunui zeu îi pasă de mîntuirea sau de pierzania noastră ? E totuşi ceea ce ar trebui să putem crede, măcar preţ de o secundă pe zi.

Come pensare che una preghiera sia altro che un monologo, che un'estasi abbia un valore al di la di se stesso, che alcun dio si preocupasse della nostra salvezza o della nostra perdizione ? E tuttavia cio che dovremmo poter credere, anche per un'istante al giorno.

How to think that a prayer is anything but a monologue, that the ecstasy has a value beyound itself, that any god would care about our salvation or our perdition ? It's however what we should believe, even for a second a day.
