TOCMAI IEŞEAM DIN ARENĂ

Pentru că eşti cu atît mai tînăr ca mine,
am vrut să te-nvăţ şi să-ţi spun :
" Fii temerar ", sau : " Fii răbdător ",
" Fii vulpe ", " Fii leu ",
cum se spune celor mai tineri.
Tocmai ieşeam din arenă, ne aflam sub stele,
sub cerul mării de august,
şi toate adevărurile care-n arenă
erau tari, substanţiale ca minereurile,
se pulverizaseră-n mii de stropi argintii
ce nu mă lăsau să vorbesc.


APPENA USCIVAMO DALL'ARENA

Perche tu sei molto piu giovane di me,
volevo insegnarti e dirti :
" Sii ardito " , o: " Sii paziente ",
" Sii volpe ", " Sii leone ",
come si parla ai piu giovani.
Appena uscivamo dall'arena, c'eravamo sotto le stelle,
sotto il cielo del mare d'agosto,
e tutte le verita che nell'arena
erano forti, sostanziali come i minerali,
si erano spruzzati in migliaia gocce d'argento
che non mi lasciavano parlare.


WE JUST CAME OUT FROM THE ARENA

Because you're much younger than me,
I wanted to teach you and tell you :
" Be bold ", or : " Be patient ",
" Be a fox ", " Be a lion ",
as is told to the younger ones.
We just came out from the arena, we were under the stars,
under the sky of the sea of august,
and all the truthes that in the arena
were strong, substantial like minerals,
had been pulverized in thousands silver drops
which didn't let me talk.
