Men, What You Need This Summer: From Tissot Watches to Tank Tops
By Mark Etinger
Looking good during the summer months can be tough, especially when it's 95 degrees with a hundred percent humidity. But that's why you're reading this article, right?
It begins with some accessories. You need a watch, and it doesn't matter whether it's one of the many Tissot watches, Citizen watches or Michael Kors watches out there, it should just fit your personality and your style. Then take a look at your shoes and your belt. Blue with brown, white with black, and all other colors either fall into the warmer spectrum (brown) or the cooler (black). Woven belts are especially hot this summer. Sneakers should be classic or if you want some funk, tending toward metallic solid colors. Sandals are great, but flip flops should be saved for the beach. Wingtips or monk straps, whatever style your prefer for your day job is up to you.
Feel free to wear seersucker with white or tan linen pants. Linen coats are fine too, and don't worry about their wrinkles. Brown suits are trendy, but be careful if you don't have a caramel complexion, you don't want to look washed out. Try a lighter, more taupe color rather than the yellowy tans good for the olive-skinned. When it comes to shirts you can do anything you want, and if you really want to be stylin', pull off a pattern on a pattern with a sleek diagonally striped tie over a vertically striped shirt.
Assuming you're not at the office, you can feel good about wearing shorts, which should rise above the knee but no higher than six inches, and a tank top. Showing off your shoulders is a good way to brave the farmer's tan and to display your biceps to any ladies who may be looking your way.
When you're at the beach or the pool, your swimsuit should be like your shorts, except you can get away with going a little shorter. Think solid bright colors, without tropical flowers or screen printed designs. Those are for frat boys or surfers only.
Ultimately, everything you wear will reflect something about who you are. That's why it's important to take pride in your appearance and spend a little on quality items that you will have for a long time. A well made suit will last for decades, and it will be cheaper than buying three or four lesser ones. Stay styling, be confident and look as good as you can. Even if it's a hundred degrees.
