Caribbean Cruises - Relax and Explore the World!
By Cathal Doorley
Planning a cruise to the Caribbean? It's not random chance that made it one of the most popular destinations for cruises worldwide, as you may be guessing - the Caribbean is a must-see destination for anyone who wishes to enrich themselves and explore the world in all its unique aspects and niches. And if you've never even been to an exotic location before, then you're definitely in for quite a ride - your first Caribbean cruise may not be your last one, and there's a good chance you'll want to come back at a later point to explore even more.
If you're passing by the Grand Cayman, you can take up some extreme swimming opportunities, amidst dangerous waters but also lush environments. You can even get a face-to-face meeting with some stingrays if you're feeling brave, so if you're a fan of extreme adventures, now's the perfect opportunity to get some of that!
And if you are a fan of a relaxing stroll late in the afternoon, check if your cruise passes through St Lucia - one of the best destinations for taking a stroll, or even riding your bike down the virgin forest areas. If you go for the latter though, make sure you have a really sturdy bike and also quite a bit of experience riding it!
At Puerto Rico, you can do some spelunking and explore the caverns at the Rio Camuy Cave Park, some of which are incredibly huge and impressive to see from the inside. Also here, you can check out the Arecibo Observatory, which is famous for housing the largest telescope in the world. If you're a fan of science and especially astronomy, you should have a blast visiting this one - just make sure you observe the camera rules as they can be somewhat strict and specific.
Most of the worlds best cruise lines operate in the Caribbean with sailings from places like Miami and Fort Lauderdale. As you already know, the Caribbean is a wash with stunning palm fringed beaches, white sands and turquise blue waters and a Caribbean cruise can be a fantastic way to see alot of this area. However the downside of a cruise is that it leaves you wanting to stay there for longer. On cruises you only really get a day on land and this can be a bit annoying but it does allow you to see more places. If you fall in love with a place you can then come back on a regular holiday to enjoy it longer.
