Cocoa Butter and Its Role in Getting Rid of Stretch Marks on the Skin

Cocoa Butter and Its Role in getting rid of Stretch Marks on the Skin

Stretch marks commonly appear on the body after there is a damage to the deeper layers of the skin, commonly on the dermis. Because this part is mainly composed of collagen, rapid stretching and tearing on these areas can result to permanent damage which results to the formation of crooked linear marks also known as striae.

Stretch marks or striae are permanent, they cannot be removed completely out of the skin surface. Even the strongest and most potent of all solutions cannot eradicate this permanent scar on the skin. However, its visibility can only be minimized. Different treatments and methods promise real and effective outcomes, most of them natural in nature.
One of the most common remedies for stretch marks includes the use of cocoa butter. This substance is a product of the cacao tree, a common plant of the tropical countries. Cocoa butter is also a popular ingredient of skin treatment solutions and cosmetics because of the different benefits which can be derived from its use.

The smell of cocoa butter is pleasant, making it a favorite ingredient of creams and lotions. It is also known for its skin repair abilities, making it an ideal element in skin creams and lotions.
Cocoa butter is an effective treatment in removing stretch marks. It deeply moisturizes the skin, softening the deeper layers with or without damage. When the skin is properly moisturized, it can be easily repaired. Cocoa butter works into each connective tissue on the skin, healing the different zones affected by stretch marks.

Constant application of cocoa butter makes the marks appear less visible. Usually, it takes months of consistent application on which the results can be highly apparent on the skin. Because cocoa butter is a skin-repairing agent, it can also remove other skin problems such as fine lines, wrinkles and crow’s feet.
