Colinde, colinde !
E vremea colindelor,
Căci gheaţa se-ntinde
Asemeni oglinzilor
Şi tremură brazii
Mişcînd rămurelele ;
Căci noaptea de azi-i
Cînd scînteie stelele.

Se bucur copiii,
Copiii şi fetele,
De dragul Mariei
Îşi piaptănă pletele,
De dragul Mariei
Şi-a Mîntuitorului
Luceşte pe ceruri
O stea călătorului.

Canti, canti !
C'e il tempo dei canti,
Perche il ghiaccio si stende
Come gli specchi
E tremano gli abeti
Muovendo i fraschetti ;
Perche questa e la notte
Quando le stelle scintillano.

Si rallegrano i bambini,

Pettinano i loro capelli,

Brilla una stella
