A Guide on How to Buy High Heels
By Twisty Gan
One of the most glamorous-looking things that you can put on your feet are high heels. But the thing is, when you put them on, you'll end up feeling less glamorous with every step you take! If you know what I mean and if you have sworn off these shoes for this reason, you better get your credit card ready to buy more high heels because this article will show you how to make walking in those dreaded stilettos feel like walking on pillows.
The first thing that you have to do is definitely a no-brainer. Pick a pair of high heels that actually fit. Even if you find the cutest pair of the shoes in three sizes too small, there are only four words that you need to tell yourself during that time, "it's not worth it".
The second thing that you have to do is take your chosen pair of high heels for the wiggle test. All you have to do is make sure that your toes have enough room that you'd still be able to wiggle them around. Forcing on a pair of shoes that fails the wiggle test will give you all sorts of complications such as bunions, blisters and a lot more. Generally, pointy-toed shoes fail the wiggle test so, as much as possible, stay away from those.
The third thing to check off your list is that those high heels should be able to let your feet breathe. This doesn't mean that you should buy a size bigger so air can flow in. Basically, you need to look for high heels that are made of a material that lets air pass in and out. To give you a general idea, plastic is the worst kind and leather is the best kind.
The fourth thing is pretty hard to do for some people. If you're prioritizing comfort, then you should generally stay away from high heels wherein the heels itself are very thin. Basically, stilettos are bad and wedges are good. I know that some people swear by stilettos and avoid wedges like the plague but wearing stilettos force you to put all your weight on the balls of your feet. So, imagine, walking on the tips of your toes for the whole day.
But, of course, you don't have to sacrifice style for comfort. You don't have to be doomed to wearing wedges for the rest of your life, just find a pair of high heels that have a thicker heel and there you go. Not as comfortable as wedges but a lot more comfortable than stilettos.
The fifth thing that may sound a bit weird is that you should save your high heel buying at the end of the day. I mean literally, at the end of the day, as in, nighttime. Your feet are said to expand throughout the day so buying your high heels at the end of the day will make sure that you pick the size that will fit your feet at its biggest.
So, there you go. This is a guide to help high-heels-buying a lot easier. So, let's not prolong this anymore and we'll send you on your way. Happy shopping!
