Gustave Moureau : Prometheus

Never the wavering spirit touched by hamletism wasn't dangerous : the principle of evil lies in the tension of will, in the unfitness for perfect peace, in the Promethean megalomania of a race gorged with ideal, exploding under the pressure of its beliefs and which, because it has mocked the doubt and the laziness - vices nobler than all its virtues - got on the way of perishing, of the history, indecent mixture between banality and apocalypse.
