JAMES MCAVOY & TOM CRUISE IN "AT THE MOUNTAINS OF MADNESS". FIRST PIC FROM "FRIGHT NIGHT". NEW TV SHOWS "NEVERLAND", "SANDMAN", "ALCATRAZ"

Now here's a new casting treat: I've already mentioned recently that Guillermo Del Toro will direct "At the Mountains of Madness", adventurous horror about a scientific expedition to Antarctica which discovers fantastic and horrific ruins and a dangerous secret beyond a range of mountains taller than the Himalayas. The hottest rumor is that Universal wants James McAvoy in the lead role in the adaptation of the H.P. Lovecraft book, while del Toro wants Tom Cruise. Without any deeper thought, I vote for McAvoy.

"MovieWeb" has published the first very cool banner picture of David Tennant in the remake of "Fright Night" which follows Charlie (Anton Yelchin), a teen convinced that his new neighbor (Colin Farrell) is a vampire. His disbelieving mom (Toni Collette), will fall under the vampire's spell. David Tennant will play a Las Vegas magician whose show revolves around horror-movie imagery and who claims to be a vampire expert, but when the teen turns to him for assistance, he's less than helpful.

In fresh TV news for today - SyFy will start shooting "Neverland" mini series next week, an origin story of Petar Pan with Rhys Ifans as James Hook, Anna Friel and Bob Hoskins in the cast. Fox has bought the rights on "Lockes and Key" the new mystery show I've mentioned last week, and which is written by Joe Hill, Stephen King's son. Eric Kripke, the author of "Supernatural" will probably adapt popular comic "Sandman" into a TV show which will tell the tale of Morpheus, the Lord of the Dreaming, a deity who personifies dreams. This mix of fantasy and mythology also follows the Endless, a group of powerful brothers and sisters named Destiny, Death, Destruction, Despair, Desire and Delirium. And J.J. Abrams together with one of the "Lost" producers is currently trying to sell their new TV series entitled "Alcatraz" to one of the major TV networks. The show will focus on the notorious island prison in San Francisco Bay.

Last year's Emmy and Golden Globe Award winner, Toni Collette will get some new colleagues in the third season of the super intelligent show "The United States of Tara" in which she plays a woman with more than five totally different personalities: Eddie Izzard will play Tara's brilliant psychology professor who is at first skeptical, but becomes fascinated with Tara as a subject, leading him to further explore her condition. Frances Conroy will guest star as Tara's mother in law, a recluse with a compulsive hoarding problem.

SCARLETT JOHANSSON AND JOSEPH G.LEVITT AS ZOMBIES. ALIEN INVASION IN "TRANSMISSION". GORGEOUS PEOPLE IN "SHARK NIGHT"

It seems that alien invasion is the new "in" thing in Hollywood. Bob Hoskins, Jason Flemyng ("Clash of the Titans"), stunning Talulah Riley ("Pride and Prejudice", "St. Trinians") and Willem Dafoe will all star in "Transmission", a scary 3D film about an alien invasion which takes place in the worst possible moment - during a solar eclipse.

Now this is an unusual couple in an even more unusual film: Scarlett Johansson and Joseph Gordon Levitt might star in "Breathers: A Zombie Lament", a zombie romantic comedy about a dead man who discovers himself newly re-animated as a decaying zombie and must figure out what it means to live as an undead in a society that denies his kind basic rights. Gordon Levitt would play the dead man, while Scarlett could play Rita, a sexy suicide victim with a lipstick fetish. This is all based on a book by S.G. Browne.

Since I know how you naughty people like when I post news on some insignificant upcoming film just as an excuse to publish hot pics of its steamy stars, I shall indulge you again :)) Gorgeous "American Idol", the long-legged singer Katharine McPhee and equally gorgeous Dustin Milligan ("90210") will star in "Shark Night 3D" in which a group of college friends spends the weekend at a lake house, only to find bloodthirsty sharks lurking beneath the waters in the area. Off course, this means Katharine, Dustin and other young creatures (Chris Cormack, Sara Paxton) will wear just swimming suits all the time.

FABULĂ

" Vă voi ridica la rangul de copac,
spus-a Dumnezeu ierburilor blajine,
iată, în primăvara care vine,
creşterii voastre nu voi mai pune capac. "

Ma un greco, un esope, sentendola parlo :
" Se Iddio compiesse la sua promessa, che cosa sarebbe ?
Il suo atto per gli ambiziosi e negazione
e il detto un adescamento, una prova. "

FABLE

" I shall rise you at the status of a tree,
God said to the gentle herbs,
here, the spring which is coming now
I shall not put the lid to your growth. "

" Don't believe him, he's a promiser,
said the top which was spinning at their root.
He promised me that he'll make me human,
with little shoes, a treasure. "

But a Greek, an Esop, hearing him spoke :
" If God would keep his word, what would it be ?
For his acting is a denial for the ambitious
and his saying is an enticement, is a test, a bait. "

Meghan McCain opens up about campaign, Palins

In an appearance on ABC's "Good Morning America" on Tuesday, Meghan McCain, daughter of Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), dished about former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, her father's running mate during the 2008 presidential campaign.

The younger McCain referred to Palin as "a Republican feminist," but wouldn't say whether she would vote for Palin if the she runs in 2012.

The insights come as the 25-year-old political daughter releases her new book "Dirty Sexy Politics," which offers a unique glimpse into life on the campaign trail as well as her take on the political trajectory of the Republican party.

Here's an excerpt of the one-on-one that went down between McCain, a Daily Beast columnist, and GMA host George Stephanopoulos:

Stephanopoulos: You write about her quite a bit in the book, you say there are a lot of things you like about Sarah Palin, but you also point out that she snubbed your mom's efforts to reach out to the Palins, that she wasn't much of a team player. You talk about doubts at the end, where you thought she actually hurt the campaign.

McCain: Yes, but I do clearly state at the end that we did not lose because of her. And, I'm speaking out now because I do have conflicting feelings about her. I mean, she brought so much momentum and enthusiasm to the campaign.

In her newly-unveiled book, McCain writes about the darker side of Palin's presence on the 2008 campaign. When Stephanopoulos asked about an excerpt highlighting the "drama, stress, complications, panic and loads of uncertainty" the Alaska governor brought to the political operation, McCain responded: "It's true, I mean a lot of things happened, but I think that's how campaigns are in general, no matter who comes."

Associated Press Writer= PHOENIX (AP) — John McCain's daughter says in a new book released Tuesday that Sarah Palin brought drama, stress and uncertainty to her father's failed bid for the presidency in 2008, but she doesn't blame the vice presidential nominee for losing the race.

In "Dirty Sexy Politics," Meghan McCain portrays conflicted feelings about her father's surprise choice for a running mate. She reveals that she called Palin "the Time Bomb."

"I was waiting for her to explode," McCain wrote. "There was a fine line between genius and insanity, they say, and choosing her as the running mate was starting to seem like the definition of that line."

But McCain also praises the Palins as "nice and down-to-Earth" and says she was impressed with Palin's ability to captivate and inspire women.

In the end, she writes, her father lost because "Obama was unbeatable" — the electorate and the news media were too enamored with a fresh new face who represented a monumental change from then-President George W. Bush.

McCain, 25, lives in Phoenix and is the oldest of John and Cindy McCain's four adult children. John McCain also has three children from his first marriage.

In her book, released by Hyperion, Meghan McCain shows an itch to adopt her father's persona as a "maverick" delivering "straight talk."

She calls religious conservatives the "intolerant far right," evoking her father's famous remark a decade ago that GOP religious leaders were "agents of intolerance." The elder McCain has since backed off from those statements.

Meghan McCain chronicles her struggle to fit in with the Republican Party, and she challenges the party to focus on promoting individual liberties while being more inclusive.

"Being Republican is not a lifestyle choice," she writes. "And it doesn't mean you can't be young, or gay, or black, or anything else."

John McCain said he was proud of his daughter and enjoyed the book.
"Reality is that we don't agree on every issue, but that makes it even more interesting conversation around the dinner table," he told The Associated Press on Tuesday.

DWAYNE JOHNSON LEADS THE CAST IN "JOURNEY 2: THE MYSTERIOUS ISLAND". HOT AND SEXY NEW PICS FROM NEW "CONAN"

Since Brendan Fraser is not returning to "Journey to the Center of the Earth" (due to schedule problems), the sequel to this adventure blockbuster from a few years ago, entitled "Journey 2: The Mysterious Island", will have Dwayne Johnson as the lead star beside young Josh Hutcherson. As "MovieWeb" reports, Josh Hutcherson will reprise his role as burgeoning explorer Sean Anderson, who is forced to bring his mom on a trip to a mythical and monstrous island to find his missing grandfather, while Dwayne will play his mom's boyfriend. The sequel is based on Jules Verne's "The Mysterious Island".

It seems that new "Conan" will offer more than just action, muscles and sword battles according to the new set photos which reveal young Jason Momoa surrounded by a bunch of scantily clad girls who are obviously trying real hard to entertain him in something that looks like a barbaric orgy :) Directed by Marcus Nispel and starring Momoa, Rachel Nichols, Rose McGowan and Ron Perlman, new "Conan" comes to cinemas next year.
