"TAKEN'S" PIERRE MOREL TO DIRECT "DUNE" FOR PARAMOUNT
It seems that the latest film adaptation of Frank Herbert’s 1965 sci-fi classic novel "Dune" has found a new director. Director Peter Berg left the film in October and now the new guy behind the helm will be Pierre Morel (known only for last year's "Taken" and upcoming "From Paris with Love"). Paramount will be releasing the new venture and is currently seeking for a new writer to incorporate Morel's new vision into the script. (originally written by Josh Zetumer). "Entertainment Weekly" reports that Morel plans to stay very faithful to Frank Herbert's 1955 novel and that the project is a high priority for the studio.
As you already know David Lynch had directed the original 1984. movie version, but the ginormous production was deemed too confusing by critics and by audience as well, since the film turned out to be an expensive flop, but it did become a cult sf movie later on with its stellar cast including Kyle MacLachlan, Virginia Madsen, Sean Young, Max von Sydow, Francesca Annis, Sting, Patrick Stewart...
